Favorite snippet from Ayn Rand’s Anthem
By admin | Category: Books, Motivational Musings, Resources“I know not if this earth on which I stand is the core of the universe or if it is but a speck of dust lost in eternity. I know not and I care not. For I know what happiness is possible to me on earth. And my happiness needs no higher aim to vindicate it. My happiness is not the means to any end. It is the end. It is its own goal. It is its own purpose.”
If you’ve never read Anthem by Ayn Rand, I highly recommend it.
You can read it online for free here.
It’s a short little read, but one of those books that will change the way you think and alter your perspective on things for life. My favorite line in the whole book is the one listed above, and, to me, it is the sum of all the life lessons I have learned.
We create our own lives. What we think and feel dictates the world around us. To be happy, we just need to live purposefully and remain on a path that is filled with action steps leading towards increased bliss.
It is so simple, and yet so many people scoff at the idea. I see my life enriched every day with more things to be grateful for. When I am more actively focusing my energies, such as feeling really driven towards a goal or as I read a self-help book that strikes a chord with me, the rewards are even great. Give out those signals or happiness and success at full blast
You will be so glad you did.
